01. Up and Down

An Up and Down bet is an example of an “If Cash” or “Any to Come (ATC)” bet. It is basically a wager on two selections that consists of two single bets. If one selection wins (hence the phrase “If Cash”) then the original stake is placed as an additional single bet on the second selection. If both selections win each original stake is placed as a single on the other selection. This in effect gives twice the winnings for just two stake units. However, the downside of only one winning selection is that both original stakes are lost. Such bets are usually played for “Single Stakes About (SSA)” meaning that stakes identical to the original ones are placed on selections in the case of one or more winners. “Double stakes about (DSA)” means that in the case of one or more winners, twice the original stake is placed on selections. Be advised though that an “Odds on Winner” bet will not supply enough money for “Double Stakes About”, therefore the whole available amount is actually used.

02. Round Robin

A Round Robin bet is placed on three selections. It consists of 10 separate bets; 3 doubles, 1 treble + 3 “Up and Down” bets (each of 2 separate bets). A Round Robin bet may be considered to be a Trixie to which 3 “Up and Down” bets have been added. In such bets, one winning selection will guarantee a return.

03. Rounder

Rounder is a bet that is placed on three selections (A, B + C). It consists of 3 singles + 3 “Any to Come” (ATC) doubles to the original singles stakes. Examples of a Rounder bet are: £1 win A, ATC £1 double BC; £1 win B, ATC £1 double AC; £1 win C, ATC £1 double AB.

04. Roundabout

A Roundabout bet is similar to the Rounder bet except that the ATC doubles are to twice the stake. For example £1 win A, ATC £2 double BC etc. Be advised though that in the event of an “Odds on Winner” the complete returns (which are less than £2 in this example) from the winning single are bet on the appropriate double.

05. Single Stakes About (see Up and Down)

A Single Stakes About bet consists of 1 stake A any to come (a-t-c-) 1 stake B and 1 stake B a-t-c 1 stake A. One winner gives the same return as a single except the stake unit is not returned. 2 winners gives the same return as 2 singles on each selection but only 2 of the 4 stake units are returned. Also called ‘Vice Versa’, ‘Up and Down’ or ‘Cross Bet’.

06. Double Stakes About (see Up and Down)

A Double Stakes About bet consists of 1 stake A anything to come (a-t-c-) 2 stakes B and 1 stake B a-t-c 2 stakes A. One winner gives the same return as a single except 2 stakes are not returned. 2 winners gives the same return as 3 singles on each selection but with 4 stake units deducted from the returns.

Example 1
